Team Rwanda started the World Cup off strong
While expectations were low for the fairly new cricket team, all eyes were on Rwanda as the team started the tournament off strong with steady and accurate bowling.
The Rwanda team held their own against Pakistan, pushed New Zealand, and took the win over Zimbabwe and West Indies.
Pakistan’s Syeda Aroob Shah took a stunner
Pakistan skipper Syeda Aroob Shah pulled off a breathtaking stunner during her side’s encounter against England. After Liberty Heap hit a ball over mid-off to secure a boundary, Aroob Shah executed a split-second jump before making the catch.
Hat-trick history was created more than once
Madison Landsman picked up the first-ever hat-trick in U19 Women’s T20 World Cup history in a Group D clash against Scotland.
And the very next day, Rwanda’s Henriette Ishimwe topped that by getting a double hat-trick against Zimbabwe.
England won a dramatic semi-finals against Australia
Australia got knocked out of the World Cup after a dramatic semi-final loss to England, who advanced to play India in the finals.
The semi-final match saw Australia and England battling out until the end.
England started strong with Australia bringing a tough game near the middle. Securing England’s victory in the 19th over, however, was England captain Grace Scrivens who trapped Australian seamer Maggie Clark on the front pad.
Scrivens finished with figures of 2-8 from 3.4 economical overs, and England leg-spinner Hannah Baker was declared Player of the Match for going 3-10 from four overs to trick Australia’s middle order.
Team India claimed a thrilling tournament win
While England was able to pull into the final with their nail-biting semi-final win against Australia, their final match against India was a loss.
India beat England to claim the title in the first-ever ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup. It was a thrilling triumph, celebrated widely for Team India’s skillful match.
